Oh Hail
After a long hiatus due to scheduling conflicts, game night resumed on Tuesday. I met up with Eric and Robert at Abuelo’s near Barton Creek Mall. We had dinner and some drinks… several drinks. We do love to drink! I was so hungry that I felt like I was going to die. Of course that caused me to order a much bigger meal than I should have. It was delicious though, and if I gained 5 pounds from it, it was totally worth it.
We went to see a movie (I Love You Man) after dinner. It was pretty freaking funny, but at times Paul Rudd’s character was so awkward that it was painful to watch. Still, I give it 4.5 stars out of 5. It was funny, not super predictable, well acted and a little original. Jason Segal’s character was kind of like all his others, but I still liked him.
I loved seeing Jaime Pressly (Joy from My Name is Earl) in it, but it’s so hard to see her as anything other than Joy. She plays that character so well and it’s the only thing I’ve ever seen her in, so she will forever be Joy Turner to me.
Last night I had plans to hang out with Jeffery. As I was driving home it was looking like it was going to start raining, so I kept thinking I should go home first and get my umbrella before going to buy groceries, but I didn’t. About a block past the entrance to my apartments it started pouring down and a few seconds later came the hail. Large, horrible hateful hail came pouring down and pummeled my truck.
It was so loud and so harsh that I honestly thought that my windshield was going to crash in on me. Traffic got crazy and I was trapped. I couldn’t turn around to go home and park under my carport. I was stuck out in the hail getting pummeled.
I just parked as close to a tree as I could and hoped it would minimize damage, but my hood is all dented up anyway. After the hail stopped I went to get some groceries. It was still pouring, and I didn’t have my umbrella, so I got soaked. I think I may have left my umbrella in Robert’s car during the trip to Dallas.
Jeffery came over around 7:30 and I made Teriyaki chicken, egg drop soup, and fried rice for dinner. Yays! I so badly wanted to order it from somewhere, but I don’t have many food options in my area. I think there’s a new Asian place close by, but I couldn’t remember the name of it.
We hung out drinking wine and watching television. We drank some Reisling and my new favorites, Alice White Lexia. I swear I could drink that every day all day long. My other favorite, Herr Barr’s Sweet White Wine has disappeared from my grocery store, so I think I’m going to have to go to a liquor store and order it. ?
Jeffery never gets to watch TV, so it was like a super treat for him. We watched America’s Next Top Model first. I think that show is so rigged. Each week they do photo shoots and they take a bunch of pictures, then Tyra decides which single picture each model is judged on. So if Tyra wants to get rid of a girl, she could just choose the worst picture from that girl’s shoot and present it at judgment.
I so badly want to see Sandra go home and each week she deserves to be sent packing, but for some reason Tyra sends someone else home. It’s obvious that they keep her around for the drama. An even though I know it’s rigged and fake, I still can’t help but watch. It’s such an amazing train wreck and I can’t help but stare and enjoy.
We also watched a bunch of episodes of The Big Bang Theory, which is really becoming my new favorite show. I don’t think any other show makes me laugh as hard. The New Adventures of Old Christine used to be hilarious, but it’s kind of gone a little downhill lately. I hope it makes a comeback.
Tonight I don’t have anything going on and I plan to do some more cleaning and get to bed early. Randy will be in town tomorrow and I want to make sure my apartment is clean and I’m well rested, but imagine we’re going to be going non-stop all weekend.
