The Spur went in the closet!

March 20, 2009

This week has been ETERNAL. I woke up Tuesday thinking that it was Thursday, then again Wednesday I thought it was Thursday, and so yesterday I woke up thinking, “GOD! It’s THURSDAY AGAIN!”

I think it felt so dragged out because I didn’t get my usual lazy Sunday to relax and unwind. I didn’t get home from Dallas until 8:30 and then Monday night I was at Sprint until 8:30 fighting over my phone.

Anyway… last night I really felt like going out and doing something, but when I left from work I knew nobody else would be available. I was annoyed at the idea of having to drive all the way home and then come all the way back down here to hang out.

I convinced myself to stay in and be a good boy… but that didn’t last long. Robert and I were texting and he mentioned wanting to go out, so we made plans to go to the Spur. I met him at his place and we walked a mile and a half to the Rusty Spur. We knew there wasn’t going to be any parking anywhere downtown.

When we got to the Spur we were a little surprised that it was overrun with the straights. We met Jim out front and he walked us in so that we wouldn’t have to pay cover. Yays! Then Daniel at the bar hooked us up with drinks that were priced special for regulars.

We had a good time hanging out and talking with a few of the regulars that were working. The bands were pretty good too. I was just really shocked to see that the Spur went into the closet for SXSW. All the gay items in the bar were down and it was full of straight people. I didn’t look like my bar at all, but I guess it was a good opportunity to advertise the bar and make bucket loads of money.

Since they will still be doing the SXSW thing this weekend, I had to secure alternate plans for dancing. Xoch and I made a deal for Saturday night. I’m going with her to a happy hour and she’s going to go with me to Midnight Rodeo. I’m scared.

I just need to figure out what I’m going to be doing tonight. Movie night?
