I lost an hour of my life and I got married.

March 8, 2009

I’ve had a pretty good week and weekend. Friday night I went to the B Scene at the Blanton Museum of Art with Xochi and we met up with Nancy, Daniel, Roger, Robert and Fernando. We had such a great time. The best thing about going to the B Scene is the people watching.

People wear some of the craziest things and you can tell that they put serious effort into their outfits. You know they didn’t wear these things to work because these outfits would get a fool fired. You can tell that they actually went home and changed into these things… these atrocities that usually come with the worst shoes you have ever seen in your life.

Sometimes you even get to see open toe shoes with pantyhose, the kind of hose that has the line across the toes. There is no excuse for that, not even if they are being worn for their control top benefits. You might say it’s acceptable to wear pantyhose and open toe shoes when it’s cold outside, but you’d still be wrong. If it’s that cold, you shouldn’t be wearing open toe anyway!

We saw one woman who had that was worse that straw. It looked like it would break off at the slightest touch, or maybe even if you just breathed on it. It was also devoid of color, totally white, almost translucent. In spite of her hair, the guys still thought she was hot, which just goes to show straight men have no taste.

One woman was actually wearing a dress with fall colored leaves on it. FALL LEAVES! We are days away from Spring (March 20th) and she was wearing a FALL DRESS! Fall colors I could forgive, but a dress with actually fall leaves is out of the question! Someone should have spilled a drink on her and sent her home to change.

I’m sure all these people were lovely people and we should have been ashamed of ourselves for making fun of them, but we just couldn’t help ourselves.

Xochi and I decided to join the Blanton to save ourselves money. So we signed up as a couple, Dr. and Mrs. Tom ________. Yup, that’s right, I’m a doctor now. I haven’t decided what I’m a doctor of yet, and I’m taking suggestions. I’m thinking it has to be a PhD doctor, and not a medical doctor, and probably something boring that nobody would ever dare ask me to talk about.

OMG so funny story. I got hit on by a girl while looking at art. I was walking around with Nancy and Daniel and this trio of ladies came up to me and one of them asked if I was working security. I guess she noticed my massive biceps and powerful criminal chasing legs. Lol

I was a little stunned when she asked because I was wearing blue jeans, a Texas belt buckle and a blue plaid shirt. Security at the Blanton wears black slacks and a grey polo. Then she starts walking around me, checking me out. She asked again if I was working security then grabbed my belt buckle and said, “this looks really official.” Nancy started laughing out loud. Then one of the girl’s friends laughs and says, “You know she’s flirting with you right.” And actually, no I didn’t. I’ve never had anyone use such a lame and bizarre approach on me.

Then she topped it all by putting her wrists together and asking me, “Do you have any handcuffs on you?” Her face cracked with embarrassment as I replied, “Not for you.” SERIOUSLY!?!?!? Handcuffs? Security? Ok, I’ll give her security… I do look tough.

After the Blanton I went to the Rusty Spur to get my boot scootin’ on. They had a live band playing, so the dancing wasn’t like I’m used to, but I still enjoyed myself. I danced a lot and got to catch up with all my friends.

Saturday I slept in late, watch movies and napped. It was the perfect day. I went out to the Spur again and danced like a mad man all night. I wore pore Seth out. It was hilarious watching him doubled over, trying to catch his breath. It’s always funny dancing with someone as they’re telling me, “I think I’m going to die.”

I thought I was going to get out of there early and then I lost an hour of my life. I totally forgot about the time change. When I thought I was leaving at 2am, it suddenly became 3am.

Today I went to a late lunch at my boss’ house. Chad and his partner were there as well. It was nice lunch and I got to see his new calf. He raises cows on a little farm in Bartlett… a million miles from my apartment.

I’m having some wine now and watching television.
