Cougars and Homos
Yesterday, after work, I went to meet up with Javi at Polvos for drinks at 5. He was meeting up with a bunch of people from work to celebrate Jerry’s birthday. It was just four of us there in the beginning, drinking and talking trash. It was two cougars (Jeannie? and Diane), him and I. I had more drinks than I said I was going to, but I had a great time. It was just what I needed after a long feeling week. Of course, at the time I thought it was Thursday, so apparently it was a shorter week than I knew.
I hadn’t hung out with Javi in a LONG LONG LONG time. It was nice to reconnect and meet some new people. Him and I made plans to go out to Rainbow on Sunday with one of the cougars (Diane) for the dancing Latino style. Yays! I haven’t been to Rainbow on a Sunday in a super long time.
The weirdest thing was happening at Polvos when I got there. They were washing the driveway with soap and a hose. It was a big production and there were four or five Mexicans (maybe Chicanos, but more than likely Mexicans) out there sweeping and spraying, and one of them even had Windex. It wasn’t like the driveway was dirty either. It didn’t look like they were really doing anything other than wasting water. Javi said they were using Mexican bleach and that’s why it stunk. I jokingly asked if Mexican bleach is also called Fabuloso… which is the “limpiador multiusos.” I knew it wasn’t though, because Fabuloso smells FABULOUS. Later I saw the guy with the Windex using it to mop the floor in the restroom. He’d spray a little, then mop, and then spray a little more.

I left Polvos at 7:15ish to go pick up Andy to hang out. I had made plans for us, but sadly when we got to the place it was closed because they close at 6 on Wednesday. I had thought they were open until 9 because I had also thought it was Thursday, but sadly it was not. How did I lose an entire day? So we went to South Congress and had dinner at El Sol y La Luna instead. We just ate slowly and chatted and got to know each other better. It had been a long time since we had chatted at length, probably about 4 years or so.
Tonight I’m going to go home and chill out. Paco moved some more of his stuff, so I’m going to do a little rearranging and cleaning tonight as well. I need to get to bed early though. I’m so tired.
