White is PURE

April 10, 2006

Friday I left work at 2 and went downtown to pick up my new hat. It was finally ready and I couldn’t have been more excited. It looked much better than I thought it would, and not nearly as tacky as I had expected. I spent a few hours after that shopping for an outfit to go with the new hat. I wasn’t having much luck and I was very disappointed about not being able to find white boots. I settled on an all black outfit as being my backup plan if couldn’t find anything else on Saturday.

Later on in the evening I picked up M.Lo and Ryan and we went to Dustin’s house for a little get together. We had cosmopolitans and snacks while we chatted and played Password. We all had such a great time. I need to post pictures, but there are so many and I’m still waiting for some from Dustin. We also took a few videos that came out hilarious. I’ll write more about that when I post the pictures.

Saturday I got up early and went to get my haircut. Javi met up with me at the salon and we went out to lunch at Iron Works Barbecue. I hadn’t eaten there in so long and I forgot how delicious their sausage is. I’m going to have to make a few more trips back there in the near future. He went off to hang out with friends after lunch and I went shopping again. It seems like I do a lot of shopping lately.

I finally found a pair of white boots, and the best part is that they were on clearance! They were marked down almost 70%! There were two pairs left, a size 10 and a size 16. Just my luck! I wear a 10! I couldn’t believe my luck. I had been searching on-line and in stores and I finally found a pair, and on clearance, and in my size! It’s like it was meant for me to have them.

Well since I found the boots I had to go back to my original plan of wearing all white. So I had to backtrack and find the pieces of the outfit that I wanted. I ended up driving all over Austin getting the shirt, the letters for the shirt, and the jeans. I can’t believe how hard it is to find white boots and white jeans. What is so bad about white?

Yes, I know you are not supposed to wear white before Memorial day, but whatever… this is Texas and once the weather turns spring-ish then I say it’s ok to dress for it. Those rules are so antiquated and who really follows them anymore anyway? Besides I’ve seen plenty of people wearing “winter white”. What the heck is the difference between “winter white” and regular white? NOTHING!

I also decided to spray paint a belt buckle white to go with the all white look. Unfortunately I didn’t do it early enough in the day and it didn’t dry fast enough. I had to wear one of my silver buckles instead, and it actually looked really good. Ryan and Michelle were not so happy with me for doing the all-white look. They didn’t want to be seen in public with me, and especially not at Chili’s for dinner.

Everyone at Chili’s was staring. The people at the hostess stand were all commenting on the outfit and that just made it worse. So after dinner Michelle wanted to sneak out the back exit so that we wouldn’t have to walk through the restaurant again. Can you believe it? All that drama over just a white outfit. I kept telling her and Ryan to get over it.

The people at Rainbow seemed to like my outfit much more. I haven’t been groped that much in a while. I got complimented a lot, which made me feel a lot better. Earlier in the night I had started wondering if I had made a bad decision, but by the time I got to RCC I was confident in my choice. Ryan and Michelle had me doubting myself, those fools! I had a fun time dancing, but I didn’t dance as much as usual because I was trying not to leave Michelle and Ryan alone too much.

Michelle left early, I assumed because she was bored. She looked super bored. Then Ryan was all having a fit about me leaving him alone while I danced. It was kind of funny. Then Ryan ditched on me and ran over to Halcyon to meet up with a man friend. I stayed dancing at RCC for a while longer.

My boots were getting all scuffed up from people stepping on me. I was getting super frustrated, but whatever… that’s the price you pay. Luckily I had already bought some cleaner and some whitener for them. The guy that helped me with the boots ended up being someone that goes to Rainbow. He saw me and came over and said, “I thought that was you when you bought the boots. Make sure you clean the scuffs off as soon as you get home or they will be harder to clean later.” UGH! Who wants to be polishing their boots at 3AM!?!?!?!??

I went over to Halcyon to meet up with Ryan and find out what was going on. He was meeting his friend, Kevin. One of Kevin’s friends tried to buy my buckle from me. He haggled with me for like 15 minutes. I kept refusing to sell and he kept trying. He was telling me to name my price and he would give me his Kenneth Cole belt as well. Then he tried to buy my hat. You know that was not going to happen. I’ve been waiting for that hat for a while now. I wasn’t about to give it up. It was pretty funny though.

We went to Rain for a bit, but I was bored over there so I ditched on Ryan and his friend and went back to Rainbow. Shortly afterwards they came over as well and we left for the night. My feet were killing me. New boots are not fun to dance in, but how else are you going to break them in? I was not happy about having to clean my boots when I got home. It took forever!

Sunday I had to get up early and go out to my parent’s house for lunch. It was not easy getting out of bed at 9. We went to lunch in San Antonio, which is about 45 minutes from my parent’s house, and their place is about an hour and a half from my place. So yeah, that was a lot of driving. On the way to lunch I read some of my new book, La Casa de los Espiritus. On the way back to their place I napped.

Lunch was pretty good. We went to the Rain Forest Cafe, which is a little bit over the top for me. It’s decorated like a rain forest (obviously) with lots of fake vines, fake flowers, and fake robotic animals. It was kind of like being in an amusement park. Every 10 minutes all of the animals would start “talking” and moving around. Every 30 minutes the lights would dim and there would be thunder and lightning. That was actually kind of annoying. It made it more obvious how long we had been waiting for our food. I did have a really delicious Bloody Mary though.

Sunday evening I napped and that was pretty much it. I’m mad again at ABC for not showing new episodes of Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy. I swear those shows get moved around and re-ran more than any other new show on television. It’s just not right!

    Hey Tomithey,

Are you wearing underwear in these pictures? Hours of close examination leads me to believe you’re not. Those pants look wonderfully see through. And there can only be one way to achive such a smooth, no panty-line look.

    What gives?

Being a fellow person that has dark hair/etc, I have learned a lesson….we look HOT in black, so, as Nancy Kerrigan said “WHY….WHY……” (as she got the shit beat out of her knee….)
