Plants

April 6, 2006

Wednesday I left work at 1. I went home to change into shorts and a t-shirt, then went to Home Depot. I bought a bunch of plants. I thought I have overbought, but it turned out to be the perfect amount. I couldn’t tell you what I bought. I just grabbed stuff that looked pretty and didn’t cost a million dollars.

I got lots of pansies, because I love them and they grow like crazy. They are also really easy to keep alive, and the flowers are cute. I want to have lots of flowers on my balcony.

So I spent the afternoon digging out all the old plants and cleaning up my pots, then planting all the new stuff. I didn’t realize I had so many pots! I have 25 pots and I had purchased a little over 50 plants. Of course the majority of them were small plants so I had to double and triple plant in some pots. I wanted to start small so they’d have room to grow.

I’m glad I did it when it was cool. We had a nice breeze going but I was still sweating like crazy. Of course I also could have waited until the sun was over my building and then it would have been much cooler. Pity.

Last night I worked on gardening some more. I went to Home Depot again and bough a bunch of plants. I wanted to make a terrarium but I just couldn’t find anything to put in it or anything to put it in. So I made some other things instead. Gardening is so much fun! It’s super relaxing too. If I could only figure out a way to do it without getting dirty, then I would be thrilled.

I need to rearrange some stuff in my apartment so that I can better display my new plants. I worked too hard on them to have them hidden away on a shelf!

Here are some pics of the plants I planted yesterday and today. I didn’t end up making a terrarium. I’m pretty happy with the way everything turned out though. (Click to make larger)
