Painting again

August 16, 2005

Yesterday (after work, of course) I went to Home Depot to look at paint again. I decided on a yellow for my bedroom. I had been thinking about earth tones and maybe going with something in a beige or a tan, but then I decided that was boring. So yellow it is! I used to really not like yellow, and believed it was the color of crazy people, but now I really like it. Maybe because I’m a little crazy myself?

I also went to the HEB and bought some rustic Texas stars to hang in my bedroom. It’s really starting to look country in there and I’m very happy about it. It’s kind of weird though, to go from the living room which is colorful and modern, to a western bedroom. There’s definitely no flow in style from one room to the next. I’m ok with that because I think it fits my personality.

I touched up the walls in the living room with this foam brush I bought at the Home Depot. It worked a lot better than the bristle brushes and allowed me to fix up the lines in the stripes so they are more straight now. It looks a million times better than it did before. It’s really hard to paint in corners though, because the walls are textured. I hate these textured walls! I believe they are what contributed to most of the paint bleeding under the blue tape.

I went to dinner at Zuzu with Sammy, then went to Grape Vine Market where I bought some of that Phillips-Union Vanilla Whiskey and licorice. I had some of the whiskey when I got home and it’s DELICIOUS. I don’t think it’s going to replace Makers as my favorite, but it’s still really good. It’s smooth and tasty for doing shots.

After dinner and shopping with Sam, I went home and taped off the wall that I’m going to paint tonight. I was extra careful this time, so maybe there won’t be as much paint bleeding as before. I’m going to start painting as soon as I get home. I think I will be completely done with the redecorating before this week is up.
