8. Went to the Divine Temple of Love
SATURDAY EVENTS
The last time I left off, I was waiting for Kristi to show up to head off to Eric’s birthday party. Eric is a guy on our bowling league that we’ve become friends with. Kristi called me and asked me to pick her up, so I drove over there and we came back to my place to finished getting ready.
These are pictures of Kristi and I before the party
We picked up Chad and Rupert and headed to the liquor store to meet Josh and to get a few things, then it was off to the party! We got a little lost on the way there, but Kristi and I figured it all out and managed to get us there just fine on our own.
Eric has a really nice house and it was definitely decorated just right for the theme of his birthday, which was a Cowboy Theme. He went all out decorating for this party. He had plenty of party favors, hats, food, and drinks. He even had tons of games. His house is like a big game room!
We hung around his party until a little after 10, then headed off to Rainbow Cattle Company. Traffic was a mess, but Kristi was able to spot a great free parking spot one block from the RCC. Nothing beats free up close parking!
There was hardly anyone I knew at RCC when we got there. I was worried that I might not get to dance at all. Brian was there, but we hardly ever dance together. I don’t know why? Elizabeth thinks it’s because he doesn’t like to follow.
Anyways… so I decided that since I didn’t have any dance partners (Xoch flaked out on me), then I would take the chance and finally start asking boys to dance. This ended up changing my entire night. I never ask boys to dance, and now I wish I had done it sooner, because I had the best time!
By the end of the night I had danced with 13 different people. I danced with Kristi, Josh, Steve, Brian, Zandt, Mark, Juan, Tio, Elizabeth, Thomas, Kirby, and this guy’s name that I forgot, and this guy from Houston.
I started off asking this guy (that I thought was a regular) to dance. He turned out to be someone just visiting from Houston, but we had a good time dancing anyways. That kind of started the trend, because then I just started asking boy after boy to dance, and once that started happening, then boys started asking me to dance.
I really enjoyed dancing with most of them. There was one guy that I danced with that was only a lead, so I had to follow. I’m not that great of a follow, but I’m getting better. I should practice at home! Anyway… it was kind of awkward dancing with him because he was SO tall. It was a serious effort to keep my arm up on his shoulder. It made me feel bad for all the shorties that I normally dance with.
While I was dancing I noticed this tall lady watching me, like continually watching me. She was totally checking me out, and I could swear she was a Lesbian. Then one time I went by her and she was fanning herself and she yelled out, “You’re so hot!” I could not stop cracking up every time I went by her.
I was starting to feel a little like a tramp because I was dancing with so many different people. I was switching out partners every song. I wanted to make sure no boy thought I was interested in him, so I didn’t want to give anyone too much attention.
So one time (not at band camp), I was leaving the dance floor and this HOTTIE Latino boy was standing on the stairs at the exit of the dance floor. He was dancing in place and grinning from ear to ear. He was so freaking GORGEOUS. He had a cute, thick, little body and the most adorable smile with huge dimples. In the face he looked a lot like Antonio Sabato Jr, but much cuter.
Ok, so anyway… as I passed him on the way off the dance floor I stopped because he was so beautiful that I had to speak to him. I asked him to dance and he said, “I have to wait for my boyfriend to come back so I can tell him.” I thought it was a blow off, but he came and got me as soon as his man came back, and his man was cute too.
So this guy, Tio, was hot as can be, but could not dance. It was all kinds of awkward, but I didn’t care because he was totally giving me the eye me and flirting with me. Then he starts telling me that I’m gorgeous, and I was all thinking, “WHAT!?!?!? This guy is a freaking dream and he thinks I’m hot?”
Every time we’d pass by his boyfriend, he would just be standing there cheesin’ like a fool. I’m sure he was laughing at how awkward it is to dance with his spaz boyfriend. That boy had no rhythm, he was all hips and not proper steps.
So at the end of the song I thanked him, as I always do, and he asks for another dance. Alright, whatever. So this time around he’s getting all gabby and complimenting me more. I’m getting a little nervous because his boyfriend is all big and rough and stuff, and I’m really too pretty to be bruised in the facial area.
At the end of the second song Tio gives me the biggest hug and a little peck on the lips. I walked off the dance floor, right past his boyfriend, who totally checked me out! They were such an odd couple.
So I continued to dance with other boys and occasionally back with Tio. One time at the end of a dance with the gorgeous Tio, he totally grabbed my butt and he kissed me again! What the heck was going on? His boyfriend even came over and told me that he was telling Tio to go ask me to dance because HE liked me. WEIRD.
There is this guy that I see at Rainbow a lot, and he’s totally sexy. When I came off the dance floor Kristi and Chad were talking to this guy and his friend. She introduced me to them, and the guy’s name is Kirby. I have been eying him for a while now. I love the way he dances and I’ve always wanted to dance with him, but never thought I was good enough. Later on, Kristi told me that before I met them, him and his friend were telling her that they thought I was the best dancer in the building and that Kirby had always wanted to dance with me but never thought he was good enough.
Isn’t that awesome!?!?!?!?!?! Anyways, so I finally got to dance with him. He’s totally adorable and nice. I must dance with him more!
Josh wasn’t having a great time, so he decided the only way to have fun would be to dance. So when the line dances came on, he wanted me to go dance with him. Now, usually, I draw the line at line dances. I don’t do them for anyone. But… since I was in a good mood and trying new things, I decided to give it a try. I ended up doing the Electric Slide and the Cotton Eyed Joe, and I actually enjoyed it. I might try it again.
So I had a great time at Rainbow. I even got Kristi to dance a lot, and she was so good. She did a great job of following. Kristi NEVER dances, so that was a big deal for both of us. I had the best time and I was thrilled to finally have new people to dance with. I no longer feel dependent on taking Xoch with me in order to have someone to dance with.
After leaving the bar, we went to Jack In The Box to get some food for Rupert and Chad, and a drink for me… then we went home.
SUNDAY EVENTS
Sunday I got up early-ish and went to pick up Rose to head off to the Saveur Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival over at the Salt Lick grounds. We stopped by Little City first to get some refreshments, and then we were on our way.
We had so much fun there. We went from tent to tent trying all kinds of food and wines, and grabbing lots of free stuffs. I tried all kinds of new things. I tried things I have NEVER eaten before, like tuna, crab, prickly pear salad, Thai food, mushroom caps, and lots of red wine. I don’t normally drink red wine, and I never eat seafood, but I enjoyed it all and had a great time.
I really enjoyed the banana pudding pie thingy that Dave and Busters was giving away. We had to go back twice for some of that, and I snagged two on the second trip. I could have eaten that all day! I must go there soon and pick some up and take it with me.
By the time we left, I had a bag full of goodies, such as a big piece of bread, a VW hat, and some terracotta shot glasses, recipes, magazines, a pen, magnets, a poster, and more. Rose and I had gone back to one table to buy this orange liquor thingy called Moonshine. It was freaking delicious. We sampled and both instantly knew we were going to go back and buy some.
We got there hungry and thirsty and left full and satisfied. Nothing like a day of eating free delicious food and drinking tons of free liquor… and especially while out in such a nice setting, on a beautiful day.
After leaving there we stopped at Barsana Dham. It’s the Temple of Divine Love, located just down the road from the Salt Lick. We saw Burton Fitzsimmons (Channel 8 News guy) wandering around the property with some cute gay boy. His friend saw Rose and I struggling to take pictures of ourselves, so he offered to take one for us.
These are the pictures of Rose and I (and the peacock) at Barsana Dham
We took these pictures to amuse my friend Marie. She used to work at the Sam’s photo lab, and during Blue Bonnet season (it’s the state flower) she always complains about the tons of families that force their children to sit in these weeds to have their picture taken. She says the majority of the pictures she saw were of children with red sniffly noses, crying or sneezing. So every time we pass by these people taking pictures, she throws a fit. So I thought she would get a great kick out of these.
We even got to go into the temple. It was nice inside, but kind of creepy. There wasn’t much to look at, so we didn’t stay long. Afterwards we ran some errands, then went to Bouldin Creek for tea and coffee, and then over to Sammy’s for a little gathering his roommate was having. We hung out at Sammy’s for a while, but mostly just vegged out on the sofa and enjoyed our exhaustion from the great day we had.
I left Sammy’s around 8ish and went home. I cleaned up a bit, talked to Xoch, and then went to bed. I slept great last night and I feel fully energized today. It’s going to be a great day and a great week, I can feel it already, and I hope I didn’t jinx it by thinking that and writing it out.
